Rahul Gandhi’s sad loss of life in MP’s idol immersion accidents

New Delhi, 2 October (IANS) Opposition (LOP) and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday expressed deep grief over the tragic deaths of many people in several accidents during the Durga statue immersion ceremony in Madhya Pradesh.

In a heartfelt message shared on the social media platform X, Lop Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured early recovery.

Lop Rahul Gandhi posted, “Many people, mostly children, are very shocking in accidents during idol immersion in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.”

“In this hour of grief, my condolences are with bereaved families and parents of children. I expect a fast recovery of those injured in accidents.”

These incidents took place in various districts of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday evening, in which the worst tragedy took place from Jamali village in Khandwa district.

A tractor-trolley carrying around 30 people, most women and children, overturned into a deep lake while carrying the statue of Durga for immersion.

At least 10 people were confirmed the dead, and many others were injured or remained missing.

In another separate incident in Shahdol district, two youths were swept away in the river during immersion rituals. In another accident in Anjangaon village of Khandwa, a vehicle was running over a procession, killing one and four injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a pre-Rs 2 lakhs and Rs 50000 for bereaved families who have suffered injuries.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased and assured proper medical treatment for the injured.
