Bhopal, Nov 7 (IANS) Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will visit Madhya Pradesh’s hill station, Pachmarhi, on Saturday to address the ongoing training camp of the party’s district presidents.
According to the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, the Congress leader is scheduled to reach Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport around 2:30 pm and from there he will reach Pachmarhi around 3:30 pm on Saturday.
After reaching Pachmarhi, Gandhi will hold a meeting with state Congress leaders at Ravi Shankar Bhawan. After this he will reach MPT Hotel, where a training camp for district presidents of Madhya Pradesh Congress is going on from November 2.
The Congress MP will address the ongoing training session of district presidents late in the evening. He will attend the dinner along with state Congress leaders including district presidents.
After back-to-back meetings with state party leaders, Rahul Gandhi will stay for the night at Ravi Shankar Bhavan. Next morning he will reach Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport and leave for Bihar election campaign.
A week-long residential training camp for district presidents of Madhya Pradesh Congress began on November 2 at a hotel in Pachmarhi and will conclude on November 12.
Rahul Gandhi has long considered district presidents as the backbone of the party organization. They serve as important links between grassroots workers and the state leadership, responsible for organizing workers, shaping local strategies, and implementing central directives on the ground.
In Madhya Pradesh, where the Congress is trying to revive its organizational strength after the recent political setback, the role of district presidents becomes even more important.
Previous training and orientation camps for district chiefs, including the one held in Pachmarhi in 2023, were designed to prepare leaders for election campaigns, create ideological clarity and improve booth-level management.
Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi addressed a large gathering in Banka, Bihar, where he targeted the Modi government over alleged “vote theft”.
Addressing another rally in Amarpur assembly constituency in Banka district, he said, “The people of Bihar will not let them steal votes. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have been stealing votes for many years. Earlier we did not have proof of vote theft – now we have proof with data. That is why I am saying that Haryana has a stolen government.”
