Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, after taking a break from his intense campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu, visited a sweet shop in Singanalur on Friday evening.
Sweet shop owner Babu was surprised when Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit to his shop.
“We were pleasantly surprised when Rahul Gandhi came. He might have come to Coimbatore for a meeting. Since he liked (Gulab) Jamun, he bought a kilogram of this sweet. He also tasted others on display Sweets. I am happy that our staff was also happy to see him, he was here for 25-30 minutes and we all asked him not to pay in surprise but he insisted on paying the full amount,” the shop owner told ANI news agency.

The first phase of Tamil Nadu general elections is scheduled to be held on April 19 for the election of 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
Counting is scheduled for June 4.
In the 2019 general elections, the Congress-DMK-led alliance won 38 of the 39 seats in the state, while the AIADMK could win only 1 seat.
