New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) While lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the NDA’s massive win in Bihar, the BJP on Saturday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the results being rejected by the state’s youth wearing T-shirts in winter, doing push-ups in the rain and “jumping into fishing ponds”.
BJP leader Amit Malviya, while sharply criticizing Gandhi without naming him, said on Twitter, “In this election, the youth have given a verdict beyond theatrics. They have chosen performance over show, substance over stunts, leadership over gimmicks.”
“They are not impressed by underage mascots whose so-called accomplishments are jumping off bridges, posing on bikes, wearing T-shirts in winter, winking at the camera, blowing kisses, showing off abs, doing push-ups in the rain or jumping into fishing ponds for dramatic photo-ops,” he said.
Pointing to the young age profile of most of the state’s residents, Malviya said the NDA’s victory in the Bihar elections is “the voice of young, aspirational India”.
“These young Indians place their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and implementation,” he said.
“Bihar has spoken – loudly, clearly and without any ambiguity,” Malviya, who is in-charge of the BJP’s national information and technology cell, said in a post on Twitter.
He said, “The victory in Bihar is not only emphatic, but very significant, because it is one of the youngest states in India. Nearly forty percent of Bihar’s 128 million people are under the age of eighteen, and another twenty-three percent are between eighteen and twenty-nine. This is the voice of a young, ambitious India – clear, confident and unflinching in its choice of leadership.”
“Bihar has expressed its views loudly, clearly and without any ambiguity,” he said.
Malviya also reflected on the controversies that took place during the Bihar election campaign.
“The Bihar results have reignited the debate about women voters. Not only did the Congress-RJD alliance drag the Prime Minister’s mother into political mud-slinging during the election campaign, but her supporters and supporters are now mocking the women of Bihar that they have sold out,” Malviya said.
As sick as this mentality is, can anyone seriously complain that the NDA government has empowered millions of women by giving them financial freedom and turning them into micro-entrepreneurs? -Malaviya asked.
“If only ‘putting money into people’s hands’ would have ensured victory, KCR in Telangana and Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh would never have lost. Both governments emptied the state coffers before the elections. No one objected then. No one objected when the Congress distributed ‘guarantee cards’ promising Rs 1 lakh per year to every poor woman ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which they ultimately lost. And in Bihar On the contrary, their handouts were mere doles, not part of any wealth-creation or income-generation programme,” Malviya said.
The BJP leader said, in Bihar, we heard countless stories of women buying goats, opening sewing machines, opening food stalls, grocery stores, small food-processing units and more – all built on the foundation of real empowerment.
NDA registered a landslide victory in Bihar Assembly elections, winning 202 out of 243 seats. The grand alliance led by Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal could win only 35 seats.
