Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday agreed with US President Donald Trump’s statement that the Indian economy is “dead” and he said that he is “happy” that the US President has said a fact.
Talking to reporters, Rahul Gandhi said that the whole world knows that the Indian economy is “dead” except the Prime Minister and Finance Minister.
“Yes, he is right, everyone knows this except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Everyone knows that the Indian economy is a dead economy.
The Congress MP questioned PM Modi over several statements of Trump, such as the mediation of “ceasefire” between India and Pakistan, loss of Indian jets and recently 25 percent tariff announced.
“The main question is that Trump has claimed 30-32 times that he has a ceasefire. He also said that 5 Indian jets have fallen. Trump now says that he will impose 25% tariffs. Why is PM Modi not able to answer? What is the real reason? He said.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday made a shocking statement on his social media platform Truth Social after the announcement of a 25 percent tariff against India and threatened an additional “fine” for the import of Russian oil.
“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, I care for all. We have done very little business with India; their tariffs are very high, the most in the world.” Trump said.
Additionally, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha criticized Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on India’s foreign policy, citing recent incidents, American tariffs and Pakistan’s “no condemnation” after the Pahalgam terror attack by other countries.
“The Foreign Minister gives a speech and says that we have a talented foreign policy. On one hand, America is abusing you; on the other hand, China is behind you. When you send your delegation to the world, no country condemns Pakistan. How are they running this country?
Criticizing the BJP government for “destroying” India’s economic, defense and foreign policy, the Congress MP claimed in the Indo-US trade deal, PM Modi “Trump does what Trump says”.
He said, “PM Modi works for only one person- Adani. It will be a (India-US trade) deal, and PM Modi will do what Trump says … The main issue sitting in front of India today is that the government has destroyed our economic, defense and foreign policy. They are running this country in the ground.”
After rapidly attacking India’s trade barriers, Gandhi’s harsh comments came and targeted his Russian oil purchases and military equipment directly. He announced 25 percent tariff on all Indian imports and threatened an additional “fine” in response to India’s energy purchase. (AI)
