Hindutva’s Vishnu Gupta said on Wednesday he had received a letter threatening him to withdraw from the Krishna Janmabhoomi case or pay with his life. He said three bullets were attached to the letter.

Gupta, a party in the case, further claimed that the threatening letter was handwritten and sent to his Madhu Vihar address in Delhi. “I want to tell them that I will not be intimidated. We will fight the case to its logical conclusion. The way we fight legally, now the Ram Mandir is being constructed in Ayodhya; the Gyanvapi matter (in Vara Nasi) is also sub-judicial. We will legally cancel Eid and build the Krishna temple (in Mathura),” he said.

The Hindu Sena leader further said that he has lodged a formal complaint with Madhu Vihar East police station and has assured to investigate the matter.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East Apoorva Gupta said they had received the complaint and were investigating it. “Legal action will be taken where appropriate,” she said.

The Hindu Sena, a fringe group spearheaded by Gupta, is known for accusing the national capital of Kerala House of serving beef and removing the name of a road named after the Mughals. In December 2022, he became a party in the Krishna Janmabhoomi case after a local court recognized that Shahi Eid in Mathura was originally the birthplace of the Hindu god Krishna. However, the Muslim side has filed an objection before the Allahabad High Court.

On December 14, 2023, the Allahabad High Court accepted an application filed by Hindu devotees for appointment of a commissioner to inspect the disputed premises. Legally speaking, Krishna’s birthplace was under a mosque in Mathura and it was necessary to appoint a committee to find out the truth.
