Bengaluru, October 31 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lost his temper on Friday when asked about the possibility of Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President DK Shivakumar taking over as Chief Minister.
Asked if there was a possibility of a leadership change in November as the Congress-led government completes half its term, Siddaramaiah was clearly irritated and replied, “Who has given a statement in this regard? Where has he said this? Did he tell you?”
When journalists cited media reports, the Chief Minister angrily asked, “In which media is this published? I read all newspapers. Is there any newspaper I do not read?”
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah refused to comment on the deadline for filling potholes in Bengaluru, which ends on Friday midnight, and instead directed media persons to contact Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengaluru Development portfolio.
This reaction of the Chief Minister has come amid the ongoing ‘infighting’ in the Congress.
Meanwhile, reacting to questions about power sharing and rumors of a deadline allegedly given by Deputy CM Shivakumar to vacate the chief minister’s chair, Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa said he was not aware of any such case.
Waqf and Housing Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has claimed that Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister till 2028.
Khan also rejected reports that Shivkumar would soon join the BJP.
The Housing Minister wishes that Shivakumar should become the Chief Minister in 2028 after the end of Siddaramaiah’s term.
Khan was overwhelmed when his supporters raised slogans proposing his name as the future deputy chief minister.
Textiles and Agricultural Marketing Minister Shivanand Patil remarked that during the first half of the government’s tenure, the Chief Minister’s position remained stable and will remain the same in the second half. “There is no such thing as a November Revolution or a change of leadership,” he said.
