New one royal mint Coin celebrating the iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has been unveiled, His sister said the tribute “would mean the world”. To the great singer. The carefully crafted design captures the Mercury mid-display with its distinctive signature.

The coin’s intricate details tell its story extraordinary talent of mercuryHis famous four-octave tone range is represented by a musical stick encircling the edge of the coin, extending from bass to treble notes,

Further design inspiration comes from Mercury’s unforgettable Live Aid performance, featuring a studded armband edging. Some editions of the coin also include color, clearly depicting the singer’s iconic yellow jacket and reflecting his vibrant stage presence.

This special release coincides with important anniversaries: 40 years of the historic Live Aid concert in 1985and the 40th anniversary of Mercury’s solo studio album, mr bad guyReleased in the same year.

Mercury’s sister Kashmira Bulsara visited the Royal Mint to sign the inaugural coin. He shared his profound emotions, saying: “Tossing the first coin at the Royal Mint was an emotional and proud moment for me. Freddie would have been delighted to see himself honored in this way and to know that his family were part of bringing this tribute to life.

“He always had such respect for British traditions and institutions, and it meant a lot to him for the Royal Mint to celebrate his legacy with such beautiful artistry. The coin perfectly reflects his passion and the joy he brought to millions of people through his music.”

Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coins at the Royal Mint, echoed these sentiments. “Having Kashmera come to us to strike the first Freddie Mercury coin was incredibly moving and made this project even more special,” he said.

“Freddie Mercury wasn’t just a musician; he was a force of nature who transformed every step he took. This coin captures that electric energy and truly celebrates a global icon whose influence continues to inspire generations. The level of detail in this design, from his signature to the musical sticks representing his incredible vocal range, makes it one of our most special commemorative pieces.”

Mercury, who died in 1991, was beloved by generations for such timeless hits as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

This collectible coin continues the Royal Mint’s tradition of honoring individuals who have left an indelible mark on the world stage, with other musical greats in the series including David Bowie, George Michael, Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Paul McCartney.

In a gesture of charity, the Royal Mint will donate a gold proof version of the coin to the AIDS charity Mercury Phoenix Trust, set up in his memory. The charity plans to auction off the piece in the coming months, furthering Mercury’s mission to aid those affected by HIV and AIDS.

The Freddie Mercury coins are available to buy on the Royal Mint website from 9am on Tuesday 18th November. Prices start at £18.50 for the brilliant uncirculated £5 denomination edition, with a color edition costing £29.50.

The collection includes a 2oz gold proof coin, a £200 denomination coin, available for £9,350, and a 1oz silver proof £2 denomination colored coin, available for £144.50. A selection of coins will also be sold at Freddie Mercury stores.
