Navalny’s allies shared photos of Volkov’s injuries, including a black eye, a red mark on his forehead and blood on his leg that soaked through his jeans.
Yarmysh said Volkov was now home and emergency services were on their way.
She did not say where Volkov lived, but independent Russian outlet Mediazona said he was currently in Lithuania.
Volkov is a close ally of Navalny, serving as the late leader’s former chief of staff and serving as chairman of Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation until 2023.
The attack came nearly a month after Navalny’s death in an Arctic prison, which Volkov blamed squarely on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
