Chandigarh, September 28 (IANS) in a decisive step towards removing the concern of Stubble and promoting permanent agricultural practices, the Punjab government has unveiled an ambitious information, education and communication (IEC) plan, for crop residue management (CRM), Minister of State, Minister of State on Sunday.
He said that the purpose of the campaign is to directly attach communities, students and farmers, which increase a practical change towards environmentally friendly practices, thus promoting permanent agriculture.
The minister said that to spread the information, the department will deploy 50 publicity vans to broadcast informative messages in rural areas.
Additionally, 444 ‘Nukkad Natak’ (Street Play) will be organized to communicate the message in a culturally resonant manner.
In addition, 12,500 informative wall drawings will be created to highlight the benefits of crop residue management (CRM) and sick effects of paddy straw burning.
Khudian said that 3,333 gram-level camps and 296 block-level camps would be organized to provide direct access to farmers for information, expert advice, and government schemes on crop residue management (CRM), empowering them to adopt permanent practices, besides collecting 148 ASHA workers for door-door awareness campaigns, besides collecting 148 ASHA workers.
In addition, school students will be attached through essay writing, painting and debate competitions to establish environmental consciousness from an early age.
