Chandigarh, October 1 (IANS) Congress Punjab unit on Wednesday launched a signature campaign against ‘Vote-Chori’ (Vote Theft) as part of the nationwide campaign, under which 5 crore signatures will be presented to the Election Commission on October 15.
The objective of the state party unit is to secure 1.5 million signature. In addition, senior Akali Dal leader and former minister Anil Joshi and a noted citizen society activist Deepak Lamba attended the party.
Addressing the media here, the party’s general secretary and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel welcomed Joshi and Lamba and said that their association would strengthen the Congress.
Bhagel said that the BJP was completely exposed after the revelations made by the leader of the leader (LOP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, with silly evidence.
He said that the BJP is now feeling so frustrated and disappointed that one of its spokespersons had openly threatened him to shoot Lop Rahul Gandhi).
He also announced that the Punjab Congress will organize a statewide ‘Yatra’ against Vote-Chori, which passes through all the districts to create awareness among the public.
Regarding joining Joshi and Lamba Congress, Bhagel said that it will further strengthen the party in the state.
State Party President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said that the party will get at least 1.5 million signature from Punjab by October 10, against the vote-chori. He also welcomed Joshi and Lamba to the party.
He said that the people of Punjab were eagerly waiting to get rid of the Aam Aadmi Party government, as they have come to know that AAP has destroyed Punjab in all ways. Welcoming both Joshi and Lamba, Congress assembly party leader Partap Singh Bajwa said that there is a common feeling among the people that only the Congress can only redeem the state and regain the state with the dirt that AAP has pushed.
He said that not only the leaders of other political parties were joining the Congress, but members of civil society, intellectuals and leaders of thought were also ready to the Congress with great expectations.
Referring to vote theft, he said that proper elections were held in 2024, BJP did not get more than 160 seats.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Joshi thanked the Congress leadership for giving him a chance to serve the party. He said that in the current circumstances, he was firm that only the Congress could take Punjab only on the path of progress and development.
