Punjab CM announced Rs 7,200 per acre for D-Siling Field

Chandigarh, September 29 (IANS) In a major relief to the flood-affected people, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced Rs 7,200 per acre for the de-selection of sand from the farmers’ fields under the ‘Jizda Kate, Oudh Rit’ scheme.

While airing the discussion during a special session of the assembly, the Chief Minister said under the ‘Judah Khet, Ohdi Rate’, farmers have been allowed to deposit sand and silt due to floods in their fields and sell them if they wish.

He said that due to floods, sand and silt have gathered in villages accumulated in many areas; Therefore, it has been decided that farmers will be allowed to remove sand and silt from their fields.

Mann said that the government will give Rs 7,200 per acre to farmers under this scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the flood victims have decided to increase the loss of 26 to 33 percent crop in the existing Rs 26 to 33 percent per acre under the SDRF criteria, under the SDRF criteria, the loss of crop of crop has increased from 6,800 to 6,800 per acre and is reduced from Rs 20 to 100 percent.

He said that in compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre, the government will contribute the highest, Rs 14,900 in the country. Mann said that he would meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday to mark the state’s case.

The Chief Minister said that for repairing a fully damaged houses, compensation of Rs 1.20 lakh and partially damaged houses, compensation has been increased from the current Rs 6,500 to Rs 35,100.

He said that special ‘Girdhari’ is already running from time to time to find out the damage by the people. He said that the government will give Rs 47,500 per hectare (Rs 18,800 per acre) to those farmers whose land has been away from rivers.

The Chief Minister said that the state is facing a serious crisis and healthy criticism is welcomed as critics are real friends who increase deficiencies in government work.

The Chief Minister said that the government has already released Rs 4.50 crore for waterlogged areas. He said that IIT has been planted in Kharagpur and Indore, Thapar University, Patiala, to be an advanced mechanism for weather prediction.
