Tarn Taran, Oct 17 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said due to the government’s ‘pro-people’ and ‘development-oriented’ policies, the Aam Aadmi Party will register a landslide victory in the Tarn Taran by-election to be held on November 11.
He claimed that the opposition’s security deposit would also be confiscated.
Addressing the gathering during the roadshow to file nomination papers of AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu, the Chief Minister along with AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Aman Arora said he would personally seek votes for the party candidate on the government’s pro-people and development-oriented policies.
He said that the government has taken many historic initiatives due to which people will vote for the party in the by-elections. Launching a strong attack on the opposition, the Chief Minister said these leaders “looted the resources” for their vested “political interests”.
He said that when the state was facing unemployment, brain drain, corruption and other challenges, these leaders were busy “earning money illegally”.
These leaders have built their palaces and business empires at the expense of the people and the state.
The Chief Minister said that they have “sown thorns” in Punjab and its young generation by “derailing” the state’s progress and prosperity.
He said that for the sake of their “vested interests” these “selfish” political leaders have created a crisis for the state.
CM Mann said, ‘The hands of these leaders are wet with this crime against the state and history will never forgive them for backstabbing Punjab.’
The Chief Minister bluntly said that any person who has looted even a single penny of the public will be made accountable to the public.
CM Mann said that he would “expose all such looters”, and strict action would be taken against them as per the law.
“It is his government’s firm commitment that a corrupt leader or official, no matter how rich, will be brought before the law and made accountable for his sins,” he said.
The Chief Minister also criticized the Congress and the Akali Dal for “protecting” gangsters in the state for their “vested political interests”.
He clearly said that these gangsters have not flourished after his government took charge.
The Chief Minister said traditional political parties are “jealous” of him as they are unable to “digest” that a common man’s son is ruling the state effectively.
