Mumbai, Nov 7 (IANS) The Maharashtra government on Friday constituted a six-member high-level committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue, Stamps and Registration) Vikas Kharge, which also included Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar, to thoroughly investigate the alleged irregularities in land transactions related to Survey No. 88 in Mundwa, Pune.
The decision has been taken following media reports highlighting possible violations in the purchase and sale of land documents. It is expected that the committee will submit the report in a month.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has issued a government order setting up the committee, the government said in a statement.
The panel has been ordered to submit its findings and recommendations within a month. The Vikas Kharge-led committee includes Pune Divisional Commissioner as member secretary, Land Records Commissioner and Director, Inspector General of Land Records, Registration and Controller of Stamps, Pune District Collector and Joint Secretary.
The committee will conduct a detailed and impartial investigation to find out whether there have been any irregularities in the land transactions. If irregularities are established, identify responsible persons/officials and recommend appropriate disciplinary/legal action. If necessary, the committee will propose corrective measures to restore the land to its original condition (status quo) and recommend strong preventive mechanisms to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future.
Minister Bawankule said, “The government is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in land administration. This high-level committee will ensure timely, thorough investigation and strict action will be taken against any wrongdoing.”
However, Shiv Sena UBT leader and former leader of opposition in the state council Ambadas Danve on Friday demanded that the state government should appoint a committee headed by a retired judge to thoroughly investigate the transactions of 40 acres of “Mahar Watan” land (classified as government land) in the high profile Mundwa Koregaon Park area of Pune, involving Amadiya Enterprises LLP linked to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar.
