Jammu, Oct 16 (IANS) The property of a Pakistan-based terrorist operative has been attached in the Mahour area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, a police statement said on Thursday.
“In a major blow to the terrorist network operating in Jammu and Kashmir, District Police Reasi under the supervision of SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh has seized the assets of Pakistan-based terrorist operator Mohammad Sharif Mirasi, son of Ghulam Mohammad, originally a resident of Sildhar Mahour,” the statement said.
According to the police, Sharif Mirasi had joined terrorist ranks in 2000 and later fled to Pakistan in 2010 to purchase arms, ammunition and receive training with the aim of waging a war against India. Initially he was associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, later he joined the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was actively promoting cross-border terrorism.
“As part of this conclusive action, 3 Kanal and 6 Marla land falling under Khasra No. 138 and 150 at Sildhar Mahore were attached under section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A). This legal action is linked to FIR No. 70/2024 registered at Police Station Mahore under sections 61(2), 148, Charges under section 149 are included. BNS and Sections 13, 18, 20, 38 of the UA(P) Act along with Section 2/3 of the IMCO Act,” the police statement said.
SSP Reasi said that this decisive step is part of a comprehensive strategy to dismantle the logistics, financial and operational networks of terrorist organizations and their cross-border handlers.
It quoted him as saying, “The attachment of property sends a strong message to those who indulge in or support anti-national activities within or outside the country.”
The statement said that Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to ensure peace, security and stability in the region by targeting the infrastructure and support networks of terrorist organizations.
Jammu and Kashmir Police and Security Forces are carrying out aggressive counter-terrorist operations in the hinterland of Jammu and Kashmir against terrorists, their underground workers, supporters, drug smugglers/traffickers and people engaged in hawala money racket.
In their revised strategy, the security forces are carrying out these operations in a coordinated manner to eliminate the entire ecosystem of terror in Jammu and Kashmir instead of focusing only on gun-wielding terrorists.
On Wednesday, Srinagar district police raided 18 locations belonging to terrorist supporters/associates in the city as part of sustained efforts to make the Kashmir Valley terror-free.
Along with these operations, the police are also confiscating the properties of terrorists or those making such assets through terrorism.
