Srinagar, May 18: In an important step against drug trafficking, the police in Budgam have attached the immovable property of a known drug pedal in the Nadigam area of Budgam.
The property is located in the village Nadigam, a single-storey residential structure built on the land measuring 1 Kanal and 11 Marlus, and belonged to Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, son of Abdul Karim, a resident of Nadigam Narbal, Budgam. The estimated market value of the property is approximately Rs. 40 lakhs, police statement states.
It states that action was taken under Section 68-F of the drugs and psychotropic substances (NDP) Act in connection with the FIR number 464/2024 registered under Section 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Budgam. The case is related to the recovery of sufficient amount of control from the possession of the accused.
The statement said that J&K police remain stable in their commitment to combat drug smuggling and as per the provisions of the NDPS Act, will continue to take legal action including attachment and confiscation of assets obtained from the income related to drug -related activities.
The police urged the general public to support such an initiative by sharing any information related to drug trafficking with the police.
