Hyderabad:
A former high court judge was allegedly defrauded of Rs 2.5 crore by two men who collected the amount on the pretext of issuing bonds, police said after registering a case on Wednesday.
The former judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Allahabad High Court said in a police complaint that one of them, known to his relatives, contacted him in 2021 and allegedly asked for a sum of money in the name of a political party, Who “accepted by way of bond” and later appointed his associate to collect the amount.
In return, the former judge was promised that the man would arrange jobs in the US for his grandchildren, according to the FIR, which was registered under relevant sections of the IPC at the Film Nagar police station yesterday.
“Believing his words, my daughters and wife have sent a total of Rs 2.5 crore (to that person) through bank transfer during 2021. But, after collecting such a huge amount, no bond was issued to us despite my request. has not been done.” Nor was any favor extended to me or my grandchildren in America,” the judge complained, recorded in the FIR.
Police said they are investigating the matter.
