Progress of Commissioner SMC National Clean Air Program (NCAP)

Srinagar, July 16: In a constant push towards improving urban air quality, a comprehensive review meeting was chaired today to assess progress under Fazl Hasib (IAS), Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, National Clean Air Program (NCAP).

The meeting was held at SMC Headquarters, Karan Nagar and chief line officials of various departments participated.

The session included a detailed evaluation of the initiatives during 2025–26 to reduce air pollution in the city. The commissioner acknowledged the progress made so far, appreciated the departments for their efforts, while also attracted attention to areas that demand focused and quick action.

The commissioner insisted, “Clean air is not just an environmental imperative – this is a fundamental public health priority.” “It is our collective duty to apply these initiatives with efficiency and purpose, so that the people of Srinagar can breathe the cleaner, healthy air. It asks for innovation, commitment and strong inter-departmental coordination.”

The commissioner, urged all the concerned departments, urged to streamline administrative procedures to improve the Rhodes and Building (R&B) Department, fast-track pending projects, coordination mechanisms and to facilitate timely execution. Emphasizing transparency and accountability, the commissioner instructed the authorities to maintain a collaborative and result-oriented approach in achieving NCAP goals.

In its closing comments, the commissioner confirmed that air quality improvement is the top priority for SMC. He vowed for continuous monitoring of project implementation and emphasized the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in creating a permanent and living city.

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation remains stable in its mission to ensure a cleaner, a cleaner for current and future generations.
