Priyanka Gandhi Vadra continues in the major parliamentary panel at home

New Delhi, 1 October (IANS) In a significant development, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has announced the reorganization of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, effective from September 26, 2025.

The newly appointed members are Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who mark the remarkable expansion of his parliamentary role in national security, internal affairs and governance matters.

The Committee of Home Affairs is one of the most important permanent committees in Parliament, which works to investigate policies and laws related to internal security, law and order, border management, disaster response and functioning of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

It plays an important role in checking bills, reviewing budget allocation and ensuring accountability in the internal governance system of the country. The inclusion of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra indicated a strategic move by the Congress party to deepen its engagement in legislative matters.

Known for its ground -level activism and fast political tendency, Vadra is expected to bring a new approach to the committee’s idea, especially on issues related to civil freedom, safety and federal coordination.

There is a possibility of activating the discussions on their participation and raising public attention on the committee’s proceedings, which strengthens its role as the foundation stone of democratic accountability in India’s internal affairs. The committee consists of 21 members from Lok Sabha and 10 members from Rajya Sabha.

Other major figures include industrialist-royalists Naveen Jindal, NCP leader Supriya Sule, DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran and Amarinder Singh Raja fight with Raja.

From Rajya Sabha, senior leaders like Ajay Maken, Derek O’Brien, Sanjay Raut and Sanjay Singh gained weight in the political diversity of the panel. Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.

An experienced MP, Aggarwal is expected to pursue the committee with a balanced oversight and focus on creative policy reviews.
