Takaichi (64) recently became the first female Prime Minister of Japan, replacing Shigeru Ishiba.
“Had a warm conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi. Congratulated him on assuming office and discussed our shared vision to advance the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership with a focus on economic security, defense cooperation and talent mobility,” Modi said in a post on Twitter.
“We agree that strong India-Japan relations are vital for global peace, stability and prosperity,” Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi visited Japan in August and met the then Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba.
India and Japan have signed several key agreements, including a framework for defense ties and a 10-year roadmap to boost economic partnership.
