Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Hindu stone temple, the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Mandir in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Modi also held talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the first day of his two-day visit to the UAE.

BAPS TEMPLE

BAPS Mandir is located in Abu Mureikhah, close to Al Rahba near the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway. It is built on approximately 27 acres of land in Abu Dhabi and its structural works have been ongoing since 2019.

The land for the temple was donated by the UAE government. Although the UAE has three Hindu temples in Dubai, the stone-built BAPS temple will be the largest in the Gulf.
