Amaravati, Nov 10 (IANS) President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Saibaba in Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday.
At a meeting to review preparations for the ceremony, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the ceremony on November 19, while President Murmu will attend the ceremony on November 22.
CM Naidu asked the officials to make grand arrangements for the function.
He said that since a large number of people attend the function and visit Satya Saibaba Samadhi, crowd management should be planned in advance and there should be no traffic jam.
He said that in view of the increasing crowd, medical camps should be organized. The Chief Minister constituted a committee of ministers to monitor the arrangements in Puttaparthi.
Indian Railways will operate 65 special trains to Puttaparthi from November 13 to December 1, officials said. He said that 20 buses had been arranged from the railway station to Prasanthi Nilayam for the convenience of the people. He said that safe drinking water and toilet facilities would also be provided.
Ministers S Savitha, Satyakumar Yadav, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Anagni Satyaprasad and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand was present.
Elaborate arrangements are being made for the celebrations in Puttaparthi.
More than 10 lakh devotees, including VIPs and VVIPs, from all over India and abroad are expected to visit the city.
Since this event has been declared a state festival, the authorities are making all efforts to ensure that it reflects the cultural and spiritual ambiance of Andhra Pradesh.
Last month, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust had also invited Vice President CP Radhakrishnan to attend the centenary celebrations.
RJ Ratnakar, Managing Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, met the Vice President in New Delhi and formally invited him for the centenary celebrations.
During the meeting, Ratnakar apprised the Vice President about various humanitarian and spiritual activities undertaken by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
According to Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Radhakrishnan responded positively and shared that his aunt has been a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba since 1966. He expressed awareness of the immense good work being done and deeply appreciated the efforts of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust in carrying forward the teachings and legacy of Sai Baba with strength and dedication.
