Haridwar, Nov 2 (IANS) President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday reflected on the link between wellness and a developed India, expressing confidence that students trained in yoga, ayurveda and naturopathy will help build a healthy society.
Speaking at the second convocation of Patanjali University in Haridwar, the President said that great personalities of India have made invaluable contributions to the development of human culture.
He said, the greatest sage Maharishi Patanjali removed the impurities of mind through yoga, of speech through grammar and of body through Ayurveda.
He said that Patanjali University is taking the great tradition of Maharishi Patanjali to the society.
The President appreciated the University for pursuing education and research in the field of Yoga, Ayurveda and Naturopathy and expressed hope that the students of this University will contribute significantly in building a healthy society and developed India through their good conduct.
He also appreciated the India-centric educational vision of Patanjali University.
President Murmu said that education is carrying forward the Indian knowledge tradition in modern contexts in the spirit of universal brotherhood, integration of ancient Vedic knowledge and cutting-edge scientific research and with a view to solving global challenges.
The President said that the students who have received education in line with the ideals of this University would have realized that protecting the environment and making their lifestyle compatible with nature is essential for the future of humanity.
He expressed confidence that they will always be ready to face global challenges including climate change.
President Murmu said that the desire for universal welfare is the identity of our culture.
He said, “This prosperity paves the way for harmony and inclusive development. He was confident that the students of this university will put into practice the life value of harmony.”
The President said that nurturing individuals nurtures families, which builds society and nation.
He said that Patanjali University has adopted the path of nation building through personal development.
