Tirupati, Nov 20 (IANS) President of India Draupadi Murmu reached Tirumala Hills on Thursday evening to offer prayers at Sri Venkateswara Temple.
On his arrival at the Padmavati Rest House in Tirumala, he was warmly welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman BR Naidu, TTD board members Panabaka Lakshmi, Janaki Devi, Bhanuprakash Reddy and others.
The President will visit the hill temple on Friday morning.
Earlier, President Murmu offered prayers at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur.
Andhra Pradesh ministers Anam Rama Narayana Reddy and Wangalapudi Anitha, TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal and other officials welcomed the President.
Later, the temple priests gave the traditional welcome to the country’s first citizen.
The President offered prayers at the temple Dhwajastambham and later had darshan of the presiding deity Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru.
Later, at the Ashirvad Mandapam, he was given prasadam. On this occasion he was honored with Shesha Vastram and presented with a picture of the Lord.
After offering prayers at the Trumala temple on Friday, the President will leave for Hyderabad, where she will inaugurate the Festival of Indian Arts 2025 at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad.
The second edition of the Indian Festival of Arts will showcase the rich cultural, culinary and artistic traditions of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
After an overnight stay at the Raj Bhavan, the President will leave for Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
She will participate in a special session to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the centenary celebrations and paid tribute to Sathya Sai Baba.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari addressed the World Conference on ‘Pathways to World Peace’ as part of the centenary celebrations.
He posted on ‘X’ that Sathya Sai Baba’s life of service and profound teachings continue to inspire generations towards compassion and harmony.
He said he paid homage at Sai Kulwant Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam and received Darshan at Omkar Hall.
He said, “Standing at these sacred places was a powerful reminder of his enduring legacy of selfless service and his unwavering dedication to the upliftment of humanity. Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of love, service and universal brotherhood is timeless – continuing to guide and inspire millions of people around the world.”
