The TUC study, which surveyed 3,000 adults, including 1,776 workers who had children or were pregnant, highlighted widespread patterns of abuse affecting new and expectant parents in UK workplaces.

Paul Nowak, general secretary of the TUC, said: “Having a baby should be a joyful moment, but a pervasive culture of abuse at work is depriving too many parents of this experience. Some are even being forced out of their jobs.”

“Change cannot come fast enough. The Employment Rights Bill will provide long-awaited protections for families across the country. The Government must now ensure these new rights are fully introduced as soon as possible.”
