A 34-year-old pregnant woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was allegedly raped and set on fire by three men in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, police said on Saturday.

An official said the victim suffered 80 per cent burn injuries and was undergoing treatment in Gwalior. He said the incident took place on Friday in Chandkapura village, about 3 km from Amba town.

Anba Police Inspector Alok Parihar told PTI that the victim went to the village to come to terms with a woman who had accused her husband of rape.

However, the victim was allegedly raped by three men who were at the woman’s home.

Later, the trio and the accused woman doused her with fuel and set her on fire, the official said.

He said police had shared a video in which the victim was taken to hospital in a car, where she said she was gang-raped before the accused woman and men set her on fire.

Parihar said the victim’s husband, who was out on bail in the rape case, had handed over the video to the police.

While the victim has recorded her statement before the magistrate, the police are yet to record her statement, he said, adding that investigation was on.
