“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the inclusion of two major categories of crop damage which were not earlier covered under the scheme. These include crop damage caused by wild animals and crop damage due to waterlogging from floods or excessive rainfall,” Chouhan said in a statement posted on Twitter.
Dear farmer sisters and brothers…
Today I am giving you a good news. On the loss of crops due to natural disasters, our Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji has created the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme.
But it did not have two loss cover, which you had been demanding for a long time.

According to Chauhan, farmers had been requesting compensation for these specific losses for many years. Now with the expansion of the scheme, compensation will be offered for both wildlife-induced destruction and rainfall-related waterlogging.
Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the policy update, Chouhan said, “If wild animals damage crops, compensation will also be given, and if crops get damaged due to waterlogging, compensation for losses will also be given.”
He urged farmers across the state to enroll without any delay, saying the enhanced scheme now offers broader and more inclusive protection against unexpected farm losses. The announcement is expected to benefit thousands of farmers in areas that are often affected by wildlife intrusions and heavy monsoon-induced floods.
