Bhubaneswar, 30 September (IANS) India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Tuesday that there is a possibility of becoming a fresh low pressure area in the central parts of the Bay of Bengal on 1 October.
“A cyclonic circulation is currently located on the Odisha and the nearest northern Andhra Pradesh coast in the west-central Gulf of Bengal. Under its influence, another cyclone circulation is likely to emerge on North Andaman on 30 September. It can give rise to the formation of a low pressure area for the middle of Bengal on 1 October.”
He further stated that the system is expected to move towards west-north-west and around 2 October, a depression has accelerated on the west and nearest northwest Gulf of the northwest Gulf of Bengal.
This is likely to cross the South Odisha -Uttari Andhra Pradesh coast by the morning of 3 October. IMD has also estimated that widespread rainfall activity is expected to continue in the next four days.
For Tuesday, heavy rainfall (yellow alert) has been forecast in Ganjam, Gajapati, Raigada, Kalahadi and Kandmal districts at one or two places.
Thunderstorms with power and wind speed of 30–40 km per hour are expected to be on coastal, nearby and northern districts including Sundarigarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
The distribution of rain may increase in the coming days, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Raigada, Koraaput, Malakangiri, Nabrangpur, Kalahandi and Kandmal with heavy rainfall (yellow alert) at one or two places in Kandmal, the warning also leads to air speed of 40-50 km per hour in the district.
An orange warning has been issued for October for one or two places for one or two places in Gajapati, Raigada, Korput, Malkan and Kandmal for October.
Thunderstorms with electricity are likely to occur in most parts of Odisha, while coastal and warning districts may experience air speed reaching 40–50 kmph.
In addition, 12 can be done without 12 distracted (yellow alerts) including Mayurbhanj, Kenjhar, Balasore, Nabrangpur, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayugarh and Cuttack.
