The character of a popular children is to be observed with a new coin. Royal Mint will launch a 50p coin characterized by Zog, from dear dragon Julia Donaldson and Axle Chefler Nurtured the children’s book.
The collective coin accident-crushed but enthusiastic dragon remembers 15 years after the dragon Hearts of readers.
The coin design depicts Zog in flight, showing its small wings. Zog joins Royal Mint Collection Childhood characters, which already include a child of Grufalo and Grufalo.
Rebecca Morgan, director of the memorial coin in the Royal Mint, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Zog on an official UK 50P and as part of the coin series of our childhood characters.
“As a dragon who makes his best – despite his accident – Jog represents determination and perseverance, the qualities can admire all of us.
“This coin celebrates a character that has become a favorite favorite in homes across Britain and continues our tradition of respecting the literature of cute children on our country’s coins.”
ZOG writer Ms. Donaldson said that she is “happy” that Zog is being celebrated on a coin.
“When I wrote his story 15 years ago, I never thought that he would fly into people’s imaginations till now.
“Looking at our set dragon on a 50p piece, it will definitely earn a golden star from Madame Dragon.”
Illustrator Shri Sheffer said: “Pulling the zog with your great favorable face and clumsyness has always been such a pleasure. It is an incredible honor to convert my picture into a coin.”
Royal Mint’s previous character coins also include snowmans, Padington Beer and Walece and Gromet.
The ZOG 50p coin was made in partnership with magic light pictures, the company behind the animated adaptation of the story.
Its release on Thursday matches with Zog Day 2025.
The coin is available to buy in a series of precious metal finish from the Royal Mint website, with color versions available in Orange Hue of ZOG.
The range starts at £ 15 that costs £ 25 to color version 50ps.
