“Ponch is the most affected by Pakistan Shelling”: JKPC President Tariq Mid Curre

Web Desk, 24/05/2025

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hamid Karra said on Saturday that Ponch district in the central region was the worst affected by Pakistan’s recent border-limit shelling.

Karra also said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is going there to show solidarity with the affected people.

“Ponch has been the most affected by Pakistani shelling … Rahul Gandhi is the first national leader to come here, and he is coming to show solidarity with the people. He will visit all the institutions that are affected by the shelling … He will meet and talk to them, and then he will come to Duck Bungalow.”

He also asked why the “third country” announced the abolition of military action by India and Pakistan.

He said, “We hope that Pakistan will be committed to the ceasefire, although questions have been raised-the third country has announced it despite the government’s policy of any third party intervention … We do not know what they (Pakistan) can do next, so the security forces will have to be alert,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress MP and AICC in charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Naseer Hussain and AICC on Saturday condemned the border-limit crossing the border in Pakistan, which targets the places of worship, including Gurudvaras, Church, Madras and Temples, resulting in 13 deaths and significant losses.

“He neither left the gurudwara nor left the church nor left Madrasa nor left the temple. Thirteen people lost their lives here. Also, many people were injured, and many people lost their property. So, there is a lot of damage,” Hussain said.

“Rahul Gandhi will go to the homes of those killed in shelling. He will go to schools of two children killed in shelling and meet his classmates. A gurudwara was attacked; he will go there. He will go there. He will go to Madrasa, who was attacked and where a person was killed.

Hussain raised questions about the understanding of India-Pakistan, suggesting that it had reached with US mediation, and expressed disappointment over the implications of the ceasefire.

“When the ceasefire occurred, the whole country was disappointed due to the way our soldiers fight, our army was fighting, the way our armed forces were fighting, and we had an upper hand. However, with America’s mediation arbitration, we accepted this ceasefire. The whole country is seeking response,” he said.

Earlier, a five -member Trinamool Congress delegation met on Thursday with Pakistani shelling families in Ponch district, expressing solidarity with families and confirmed their commitment to humanity and peace. After meeting the families and seeing the loss, TMC MP Derek O ‘Bryan underlined how they have been “transferred” to the affected families. (AI)
