Politics latest: Cooper refused to say how many migrants will be sent to France

Web Desk, 11/07/202511/07/2025

The UK-France Deal ‘Only Scratching Surfaces’, called Immigration Services Union

Lucy Moreton of the Immigration Services Union has stated that the deal killed by Sir Kir Stmper and French President Emmanuel Macron is only “scratching the very bare minimum of the surface”.

He told the BBC Radio 4’s Today program: “The principle makes sense and I get the idea that this is the beginning, we are not able to get French to accept someone back since Brexit.

“So from that point of view, yes, it is a really good start, but it is only scratching a very bare minimum of the surface and we need to be able to go much further if it is going to do anything other than only inserting more money in criminal gangs.”

Asked that members would actually need to lift and run it, he said: “As long as we know what they are being asked to do and as long as there is a method of removing it can be done within hours.

“If it is a matter of identifying the person and put on that boat or that aircraft, it can be done easily.

“This issue is going to be around how you identify the person and any legal challenge that flows from it and it is completely possible that it may apply next week, but the legal challenge arising from it may take a year.”

The number of migrants returning to France is not ‘fixed’ – Cooper

The Home Secretary refused to say how many migrants would be returned under the new system with France, saying that the figures were not “certain”.

Yweet Cooper told Times Radio: “The number is not fixed, even for this pilot phase which we are starting now.

“So this will be a program that we roll out step by step, and we will provide updates as soon as we go.

“But we are going to do it in a stable way.”

The UK economy shrinks for the second consecutive month

According to official data, the UK economy shrunk in May even after stopping the widespread tariff of US President Donald Trump.

The office of the National Statistics (ONS) said that GDP (GDP) is a decline of 0.1 percent in May. Experts expected a slight increase of 0.1 percent in May.

This followed a decline of 0.3 percent in April, when US President Donald Trump announced his country-specific tariff and raised a global trade war.

Promised action on illegal work along with migrant return deal with France

A “nationwide blitz” would target illegally working migrants, as part of an attempt to prevent people from reaching Britain from France.

Ministers hope that Sir Kir and French President Emmanuel Macron, along with the deal killed by Emmanuel Macron, will return to France to send some people directly to the short boats to send some people to deal with the “bridge factors” attracting migrants in the UK.

Home Secretary Yatete Cooper said that there was already “a major increase in immigration enforcement activity”, but the authorities have indicated that the illegal work would increase further in the “hotspot”.

Ms. Cooper said: “This new pilot agreement with France is extremely important and allows us to return to those who have paid to travel illegally here, and will sit with our broad joint enforcement action, which involves interrupting the supply chains to seize boats and engines, closing and finance targets.

“Since last summer, we have returned more than 30,000 people, with no rights in the UK and there has been a major increase in immigration enforcement activity, with an increase of 51% in the number of illegal working arrests.”

Home Secretary Yvet Cooper has ordered a nationwide enforcement operation focused on Gig Economy (Jacob King/PA).

The deal will not be a preventive, Tories say

Opposition politicians were afraid of the deals of the migrants.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Filp said: “Labor deal will return only one of every 17 illegal migrants to come.

“94% of illegal migrants allowing to live will not make any difference and will not have any effect.

“This is the latest frightening example that when labor talks, the UK loses.”

How can migrants win right to live in Britain

Under the new scheme, one can express interest in applying for asylum in the UK through an online platform developed by the migrant home office in France, and the visa application can be subject to check.

People from countries to be considered for real refugees will be given priority, which is most likely to exploit the gangs and exploit shelters with a connection to the UK.

The new arrival will be investigated at the Mansstone Processing Center at Kent, which is the current process. An immigration removal to return any set will be held at the center.
