Kolkata, October 5 (IANS) A political slugfest exploded in West Bengal on the Durga Puja Carnival organized by Mamta Sarkar and BJP’s protest rally on Sunday. While Red Road is decorated for Durga Puja Carnival, BJP leaders have been designed to take out a procession to highlight recent electrocution deaths in Kolkata.
Carnival will start at 4 pm, while the BJP procession will start at 3 pm
The police have taken adequate security measures to organize both programs smoothly.
The Kolkata Police did not allow the BJP’s procession organized by the party’s think tank in the Bengal ‘Khola Hawa’ for the first time, cited the puja carnival on the same day.
Later, the Calcutta High Court allowed a procession with some riders.
It was said that the path of the procession would change. Instead of the Central Avenue from the college square, the procession will have to be held on the second route from the college square.
In this regard, Kolkata Commissioner of Police Manoj Verma said, “We have seen the High Court order. We are arranging on our own. Since it is going from the square of the college towards the Dorina Crossing, so there is not much problem. However, some traffic can be snakels due to mischief. We are planning to manage traffic accordingly.”
Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Suvendu Adikari raised his anger against the state administration.
“Kolkata Municipal Corporation is incompetent. Recently many people died due to electrocution in Kolkata. Recently the civic body failed to stop the disaster. Today, we hit the streets in protest,” the official said.
Kunal Ghosh, the state general secretary of the Trinumool Congress, said in response, “Durga Puja Carnival has become a global festival. It marks the globalization of worship after the efforts of the Mamata Banerjee government. The opposition is trying to remove the carnival to organize its procession in a single day. The tamasha.”
