Political parties in Bengal canceled the incidents as waterlogging occurs in Kolkata due to rain.

Kolkata, 23 September (IANS) was disrupted life after an overnight rains in Kolkata as a waterbhog, political parties in West Bengal canceled all their scheduled programs on Tuesday.

The Trinmool Congress did not hold a single political program for the day.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also announced that she would not inaugurate Durga Puja Mandaps on Tuesday after the city’s record rains.

If the situation becomes normal, it will start the inauguration of Durga Puja Mandaps from Wednesday.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Kalighat fire station on the model of Kalighat temple on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition (LOP) in the state assembly and BJP leader Suvandu Officer on Tuesday canceled all his political programs due to heavy rains.

He was scheduled to see ‘The Bengal files’ with BJP MLAs at the Indian Museum in Kolkata.

The same incident was also later canceled on Tuesday.

In addition, the opposition leader was scheduled to inaugurate a puja launched by BJP worker Abhijeet Sarkar, killed in Beliaghata, and a puja in Kasba region of Kolkata.

Lop Adhikari has canceled all its political programs.

Three National Congress leaders Supriya Tirtha, Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Mahima Singh were present in Kolkata for a press conference.

State Congress convenor Mita Chakraborty said, “However, the party had to cancel the meeting on Tuesday due to rain and rain prediction.”

Meanwhile, CPI-M met Kolkata District Committee.

Amidst overnight rain, Kolkata and its surrounding areas were submerged under deep water on Tuesday, disrupting daily life.

More than 300 mm of rainfall was reported across the city between midnight and 5 pm.
