Patna, November 18 (IANS) Political activities have intensified in Bihar amid ongoing preparations for government formation and the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister.
Two senior Janata Dal United (JD-U) leaders – Union minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh and party’s working national president Sanjay Jha – returned to Patna from Delhi late on Tuesday evening in a special flight.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also with him.
The trio had traveled to Delhi from Patna on Monday night to hold detailed discussions with top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on important issues related to cabinet formation and power-sharing within the NDA government.
According to sources, the talks focused on the number of ministers from each coalition partner in the new cabinet, the selection of the Deputy Chief Minister and the decision on who will be appointed as the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly.
Through these senior JDU leaders, a clear message has been given by the BJP high command to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
On reaching Patna, Lalan Singh and Sanjay Jha directly reached the Chief Minister’s residence and informed him about the consent and guidelines received from the central leadership.
This meeting is considered important to finalize the agreed formula for government formation, ensure smooth distribution of departments and confirm the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony.
The swift withdrawal of JD-U leaders and their immediate meeting with Nitish Kumar indicate that the process of forming a new government is now in its final stages.
The formal announcement of the chief minister is expected on Wednesday, after a consensus is reportedly reached in Delhi on seat and post distribution between the two key alliance partners.
Political observers say the concluding round of discussions has cleared the way for the NDA to move ahead with government formation.
