A man sprinkled liquid on a woman and set her on fire chicago The L train left him in critical condition, officials said Tuesday.
Police said the attack took place on the Blue Line train on Monday night. Witnesses told investigators that a 26-year-old woman and a man in his 40s began arguing and then the man poured liquid on her and set her on fire.
When the train stopped at the Clark and Lake stop, the man ran away and the woman tripped and fell to the ground, police said, adding that she was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The hospital later declined to discuss his condition.
Police said Tuesday that a person of interest in the attack has been taken into custody. They did not say whether the man and woman knew each other.
