A Florida A man was arrested after allegedly shooting a relative in the face during an argument over how often the family visits him, according to police.

Officers were called to a Palm Bay home Tuesday after a woman reported her father-in-law had “shot her husband in the head,” according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Associated Press. Law and crime.

Novak lives at home with his 85-year-old wife and disabled daughter. According to the affidavit, his wife was recently placed on hospice care at home, and “William is caring for both of them.”
His son and daughter-in-law told police that they visit Nowak weekly. But when they got home around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Novak “began expressing how upset he was that he didn’t make it in for the weekend,” according to the affidavit.
The conversation turned into an argument and at one point Novak allegedly told his son, “Get out of my house or I’ll shoot you.”
After making the threat, Novak went into his bedroom and got a gun. According to the affidavit, the victim’s wife followed him and begged him to put the weapon down, but Novak ignored her and walked toward her son.
He then allegedly pointed the gun at his son and fired a shot, hitting him in the face, police said. Novak then took the gun back into the bedroom, and said something like, “What just happened?” before “crying and screaming,” according to the affidavit.
Novak was hospitalized due to high blood pressure and seemed incoherent and could not answer any questions, the detective wrote in the affidavit.
He was medically cleared Wednesday and booked into the Brevard County Jail, where a judge ordered him held without bond.
His arraignment is scheduled for January 8.
