Police said on Thursday that Liverpool players Dyogo Jota and his brother were killed in a car accident in Spain, when Lamborghini had gone out of a road and burst into flames, police said on Thursday.
The Spanish civil guard confirmed the Associated Press that 28-year-old Jota and his 25-year-old brother, Andre Silva, were found dead near Zamora, a northwest city.
The accident took place at midnight local time. Police said they were investigating the reasons and the bodies were going through forensic analysis.
According to the police, both the Portuguese football players were in the car.
It was not immediately clear who was driving, but the police are looking at the possibility that the accident occurred as a result of a blown tire, while the car tried to overtake the other vehicle.
Bhai was driving east with a separate stretch of the highway, about an hour west to the west of Zamora, when the accident took place.
Spanish government official Anngel Blanco said, “The car was instigated, and they died inside.”
Spanish media has published after the crash video images. They show tire marks that move towards damaged railings on the road, while the burnt car can be seen several meters away.
Officials said the firefighters were called as flames from the accident spread in nearby vegetation.
Weeks after Jota’s death, he married Route Cardso and wrote in a social media post, “Yes Forever.” They had three children, the youngest born last year.
Jota also played for Portugal’s national team and helped win the Rashtra League last month.
Silva played in lower divisions with Portuguese Club Penafil.
Liverpool said that the club was “destroyed by passing sad.”
“Liverpool FC will not be commenting at the moment and requests the confidentiality of Dioogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club employees will be respected as they try to come up with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with all their support.”
Jota joined the Liverpool from Valves in 2020 and won three major trophies with the Mercestic Club – including the Premier League title in the previous season.
The Portuguese Football Federation issued a statement mourning the deaths. Federation President Pedro Proneka said that Portuguese football was completely destroyed. “
“More than a brilliant player, with about 50 appearances for the national team, Dioogo Jota was an extraordinary person who was honored by all his colleagues and opponents. He had an infectious happiness and a reference in his community,” Pinka said in the statement.
The Portuguese federation said that it has requested a one -minute silence before the Thursday match between Portugal and Spain at the Women’s European Championships being played in Switzerland.
“We lose two champions,” Proneka said. “Their deaths represent an irreparable loss for Portuguese football and we will all try our best to respect his heritage daily.”
Portugal Prime Minister Luis Montenegro commented on “unexpected and tragic” deaths. He said that Jota was “an athlete who honored Portugal’s name very much.”
“I express my deep condolences to his family,” he said. “It is a sad day for football and national and international games.”
The British Prime Minister Kir Stmper talked about “disastrous news”.
“I am sure I say to everyone in saying that our first ideas are going to happen specially with their family and their friends,” he said. “Millions of liverpools are fans, but also football fans and non-enactors who will be surprised. It is disastrous and really important that we keep in mind how difficult it will be for their friends and their family.”
A minority owner at NBA star Lebron James-Liverpool also started reactions from all over the world from a minority owner-and tennis veteran Rafael Nadal.
“It has no meaning,” said Cristiano Ronaldo, the partner of Portugal team of Jota. “Now we were now together in the national team, just now you got married. My condolences to your family, your wife and your children.
Former club Porto and former team colleagues killed death and sent sensations, as by other clubs, associations and leagues.
The Premier League said it was “shocked and destroyed.”
“Our honest sensations go to Dogo’s family, friends, liverpool FC and all his supporters in this heartbreaking time,” said this. “Football has lost a champion that will miss forever. We will continue to support our friends and colleagues at the club.”
The UEFA stated that its views were with relatives, friends and teammates, who were “affected by this heartbreaking loss.” It said that the moment of silence will be seen in the Euro 2025 matches on Thursday and Friday.
