Police forces are investigating more than 1,000 grooming gang suspects

A police force had to apologize to the victims for decades, which has been failing on the gang of failure for decades, now investigating more than 1,000 suspects, a guards said.

Greater Manchester The police (GMP) has “significantly improved” how it investigates children’s group-based sexual abuse, or grooming gangs and other types of child sexual abuse crimes, which is in accordance with His Majesty’s Inspector of Constable and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).

The 76-Page report sees in the current and ongoing manner that gangs and other child sexual offenses are controlled by police, health bodies and 10 councils in Greater Manchester.

It states that the police have conducted a live investigation in “multi-vitim, multi-vision” child sexual abuse inquiries, including 714 victims and the remaining people, and 1,099 are suspected.

Michel Skir, an Inspector of the Constabulary of His Majesty, said: “We found that since 2019, when the Greater Manchester Police started reviewing its non-organizational child sexual abuse investigation, the force has improved his understanding and attitude to investigate allegations of child criminals and sexual exploitation.

“It is clear that the force, over many years, has been trying to provide a better service to those who may have experience of sexual abuse or may be.

“But for some, the confidence and belief in the police were lost, and the force would not be able to improve its experiences.

“It is important that corrections are led by the experiences of the victims, and if they come forward, they are taken support, protected and seriously.”

The reports of the inspectors found that the current chief constable Sir Stephen Watson and other senior officials ensure that all the rank understands that child protection is a priority, it is said, they or the Deputy Chief Constables have talked to every supervisor about it personally with the chief constables.

The report said: “The officials told us that, due to a cultural change in the Greater Manchester Police, the investigation into child sexual abuse is now considered ‘business’.”

The report said that the gangs have also been provided “heavy facilities” in the chief officer meetings, in which the performance is closely monitored.

GMP is the only force in the country that establishes a dedicated team to investigate the grooming gangs, which was done in 2021, now called the child sexual exploitation team (CSE MIT), with about 100 employees and a ring-fencing budget.

The force also contacts child sexual abuse as this expert organizes severe and organized crime gangs using a strategy.

In October 2024, the force told the inspections that 59 live multi-wisdom was multi-offer child sexual exploitation check, of which 13 were being managed by CSE MIT.

In these active investigations, 714 victims and survived, and 1,099 were suspected.

The force has also recorded demographic data, such as the age, gender and ethnicity and emerging hazards and risks of potential victims and suspects uses “intelligence products” to produce “problem profiles” in detail.

Nevertheless, so far, the investigation of CSE MIT and earlier grooming gang has resulted in 42 punishment and over 430 years of imprisonment for criminals.

The report states: “The force completely accepts that it made mistakes in the past.

“Positive and effective steps have been taken to learn from these mistakes and to improve it how it examines sexual abuse from recently and non-recently.”

In response to the report, the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Bernham Said: “I am convinced in my view that the Greater Manchester system is in a different and more strong place than today, when these failures occurred.

“The assurance I reviewed has been impacted to enter the broader culture change in all GM bodies. Never will be labeled or dismissed here when they come forward to report concerns.”

Mr. Bernham said that after an independent review by Barrows Lewis Casey, he felt “Vandit” with the government’s decision to start a national inquiry into the gangs.

He said, “Due to the unavoidable boundaries of such a local review, I was an initial supporter of a national inquiry to bring the accountability of the decision -makers and Baronon KC himself said that there would not be a national investigation. It was not for Greater Manchester Review,” he said.

“We can feel disguised by this.
