Durham Regional Police continues to search for a man who went missing at Lake Ontario near Ajax on Sunday evening, leading to a huge emergency response in the region.
Police say they received a call around 5 pm that a male swimmer had gone under the water near his boat and did not come again. The incident occurred from the coastline near Harwood Avenue and Lake Driveway, a waterfront area in Ajax.
By 6:30 pm, the authorities had established a significant presence at the scene, in which water rescue operations were started with the support of maritime and emergency units. The search continued on Monday, there is no confirmation on the swimmer’s situation yet.
The police is urging someone who has seen the incident or has relevant information to contact investigators.
