PM Modi will launch projects worth Rs 68,000 crore in Odisha and Rs 11,000 crore in Assam over the weekend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate multiple development projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore in Odisha on Saturday and over Rs 11,000 crore in Assam on Sunday. A two-day visit to both states.

In line with his vision to strengthen the country’s energy security, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for several projects aimed at boosting the sector at a public project in Sambalpur, Odisha, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Upcoming projects include the Dhamra Angul pipeline section (412 km) of the Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra projects, which will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 2,450 crore under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ project.

The project will connect Odisha to the national gas grid. He will lay the foundation stone of the Nagpur-Jharsuguda natural gas pipeline section (692 km) of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda pipeline.

The project will be developed at a cost of over Rs 2,660 crore and will improve gas supply in states such as Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, the statement said.

He will also lay the foundation stone of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Talabira Thermal Power Project worth over Rs 27,000 crore to boost the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ programme.

“This state-of-the-art project will provide reliable, affordable 24/7 power, making a significant contribution to national energy security and playing a vital role in the country’s economic growth and prosperity,” the company said. Railway sector projects are also will start.

The permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister during his visit.

In Assam, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Maa Kamakhya Corridor, which has been approved under his Development Initiative for Northeast Region (PM-DevINE).

The project, once completed, will provide world-class facilities to pilgrims visiting the famous temple, the statement said.

The report states that providing world-class facilities to people visiting the pilgrimage site has been a focus of the Prime Minister.

He will also lay the foundation for multiple road upgradation projects worth over Rs 3,400 crore, apart from several other initiatives to boost sports infrastructure in the state.

These include an international standard stadium in Chandrapur and upgrading the Nehru Stadium to a FIFA standard football stadium.
