Mumbai, October 8 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the final phase of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 (2B between Atre Chowk and Cuff Parade) on Wednesday at an estimated cost of about Rs 12,200 crore.
Along with this, he will dedicate the entire Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as Aqua Line at a total cost of more than Rs 37,270 crore, to the nation. This is expected to provide facilities for reduced traffic on the roads of Mumbai and accessible travel for the passengers of the city.
The final stage will provide seamless connectivity to South Mumbai, including Fort, Black Horse and Marine Drive, as well as direct access to major administrative and financial centers including Bombay High Court, Ministry, Reserve Bank of India, Bombay Stock Exchange and Nariman Point.
According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the journey from Cuff Parade to Aare JVLR will be less than one hour. The travel fare starts from Rs 10 to Rs 70. The availability of the train will be every five minutes every five minutes from 5.55 am to 10.30 pm.
MMRC said that passengers will experience environment-friendly travel, which will save 2.61 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. The 33.5 km long Mumbai Metro Line 3, which is the first underground metro with 27 stations from Cuff Parade to Aare (Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road), is expected to serve 13 lakh passengers per day.
Apart from this, PM Modi will also launch integrated Common Mobility App – “Mumbai One” for 11 public transport operators (PTOs) in Metro, Monorail, Suburban Railways and Bus PTO. These include Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Mumbai Metro Line 1, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (Best), Thane Nagar Transport, Meera Bhayandar Nagar Transport, Kalyan Dombivali Nagar Transport and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.
The Mumbai One app offers a variety of benefits to passengers, including integrated mobile ticketing, abolishing the queue by promoting digital transactions in many public transport operators and uninterrupted multimodal connectivity through single dynamic tickets for many transport mode trips.
It provides a delay, alternative routes and an estimated arrival updates on time, as well as map–based information on nearby stations, attractions and interest points and an SOS facility to ensure the safety of passengers. Together, these features increase facilities, efficiency and safety, which changes public transport experience throughout Mumbai.
