New Delhi, November 8 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a huge public rally on Saturday at Kudiya Kothi ground in Chanpatia in Bihar’s West Champaran district as part of the campaign for the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections to be held on November 11.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the event, with multiple layers of police and special forces deployed.
According to officials, candidates from all West and East Champaran assembly constituencies will participate in the rally which is expected to attract a huge crowd of BJP supporters and local people.
Ahead of the visit, local BJP leaders submitted a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office requesting the reopening of the Chanpatia sugar mill which had been closed for years. Many residents are hopeful that PM Modi will make an announcement regarding its revival during his speech, seeing it as an important step towards boosting local employment and the economy of the area.
The rally marks an important moment in the BJP’s campaign efforts in north Bihar, where the party is trying to strengthen its base ahead of the elections.
Earlier on Friday, while addressing another election rally in Aurangabad, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the RJD-Congress alliance and accused it of promoting a “culture of fear and violence” among the youth. Referring to his controversial remarks at a recent grand alliance event, he said, “A young supporter had publicly announced that he would bring a katta (pistol) when Tejashwi Yadav’s government comes to power.”
He further alleged, “Jungleraj’s people have everything necessary to create an atmosphere of fear, extortion and kidnapping in Bihar. If they get power again, they will repeat the same.”
Recalling the difficult times during the first RJD-Congress rule, the Prime Minister said Naxalism was at its peak and people were afraid to travel at night. He said, “The situation changed in Bihar only after NDA came to power under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.”
PM Modi also said that the RJD and Congress governments at the Center from 2005 to 2014 hindered Nitish Kumar’s administration. “After we were elected in 2014, the double engine government gave impetus to development. We have given three times more money to Bihar for development works,” he said.
