Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on a three -day visit on Friday evening, which to detect ways to enhance overall bilateral relations, especially in the areas of energy, trade, connectivity, digitization and defense.

The Prime Minister landed in the Sri Lankan capital after concluding his visit to Bangkok, where he attended the summit of Bimstec (Bay of Bengal initiative for multi-regional technical and economic cooperation).

PM Modi will hold extensive talks with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Saturday.

After the meeting, India and Sri Lanka are expected to come up with about 10 results, including promoting cooperation in the areas of defense, energy security and digitization.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Sri Lanka comes at one time when the island nation is showing symptoms of recovery from economic stress. The country was re -running under a massive economic crisis three years ago and India increased the financial assistance of USD at 4.5 billion.

The joint vision was adopted three months ago during the Sri Lankan President’s visit to New Delhi.
