New Delhi, 22 September (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Monday, which will start a series of infrastructure and development initiatives, priced at more than Rs 5,100 crore, including two major hydropower enterprises, including the foundation stones for several projects in Itanagar.
After his busyness in Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi will visit Tripura, where he is scheduled to inaugurate development works in the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Udaipur. The journey will include the performance of religious rituals, but no public address is expected. The 45 -minute program will focus on the cultural and spiritual significance of the temple.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala before the helicopter fly to Palatana. From there, he will travel to the place of temple on the road.
A senior official said that the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of two major hydroelectric power projects with a total generation capacity of about 426 MW. Both projects are expected to be commissioned by the state -owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (Neepco).
Projects include HEO Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) of NEEPCO, which is a fully owned subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited.
According to the official, these two power projects at an estimated cost of more than Rs 3,700 crore are being developed by Napko in a joint venture with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The HEO Hydro Electric Project (3×80 MW) is located in Siom sub-basin in Shi Yomi district, which will produce around 1000 mousse annually. The Tato-I Hydroelectric Project (3×62 MW) will generate around 803 MUS annually.
The official said that both projects are expected to exploit the huge hydroelectric capacity of Arunachal Pradesh and promote sustainable energy production, which provides sufficient socio-economic benefits in the region.
He said that by promoting new employment opportunities, these initiatives are ready to pursue the state along the path of development and progress, promote development and create a bright future for their citizens.
Together, HEO and TATO-I projects will contribute significantly to India’s clean energy goals, while also replacing the energy and development scenario of Arunachal Pradesh, which improved the power sector across the country, with the purpose of creating ‘watched India’ by 2047, the official said.
The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has been the backbone of power generation in the Northeast region of India since its inception in 1976. With a vision to exploit the immense hydroelectricular capacity of the region, Neepco has developed in a mini gemstone category-I enterprise.
