PM Modi to attend Durga Puja ceremony in Kali temple of CR Park

New Delhi, 30 September (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to attend the Durga Puja ceremony at the Iconic Kali Temple and Shiva Temple located in South Delhi, South Delhi on Tuesday, which matches the auspicious day of Ashtami.

This journey is an important moment during the ongoing Navratri festival, which draws large crowds in the area every year.

In the preparation of the Prime Minister’s visit, a team from the Special Conservation Group (SPG) on Monday made a security evaluation of the area.

As part of the increased safety protocol, the inhabitants are reportedly instructed to remove all vehicles parked with the main roads. Local vendors and hawkers have also been asked to temporarily evacuate some areas to ensure smooth movement and congestion control.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning of significant traffic disruption in and around CR Park due to the expected increase in the footfall during the festival. According to the advisor, the outdoor ring road (especially the stretch between Panchshel and Greater Kailash), Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, JB Tito Marg, Indra Mohan Bhardwaj Marg and CR Park Main Road are likely to have the possibility of major traffic congestion.

It was further indicated that the vehicle movement would be banned on Gurdwara Road, Bipin Chandra Pal Marg and CR Park and GK-II on several internal roads. Variety of variations will be effective from various points under Panchshel, IIT and Nehru Place flyover. Light and heavy freight vehicles (LGVs and HGVs) will be redirected accordingly.

Passengers have been advised to avoid affected routes and instead use alternative roads such as MG Road, Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Road, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. These sanctions are expected to be implemented by 2 October.

The Prime Minister’s participation in the ceremonies is seen as a gesture of cultural solidarity and one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, is a tribute to the deep -rooted spiritual traditions associated with Durga Puja.

CR Park Durga Puja, one of the most prominent in the capital, sees the grand pandals, lively cultural performances and the establishment of religious rituals, which attracts thousands of devotees of Delhi-NCR. The Kali temple complex in CR Park, established in the 1970s, is considered a spiritual and cultural center for the Bengali community in the city.
