PM Modi to address Jhabua tribal community gathering

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a tribal community meeting on Sunday and inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of a Rs 7,300-crore development project in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district, officials said.

Ashish Agrawal, head of the BJP’s media cell, told PTI that tribals from across the country will participate in the rally in Gopalpura. This will be Modi’s first visit to the state this year ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Among states, Madhya Pradesh has the highest six Lok Sabha seats reserved for tribals. An official release said that during the visit, the Prime Minister will also pay monthly installments to around 2 lakh women beneficiaries of the Aahar Anudan Yojana in the state.

Under the scheme, nutritious food of Rs 1,500 is provided to women from particularly backward tribes every month.

The Prime Minister will also allocate Rs 1.75 lakh for ‘adhikar abhilekh’ (record of land rights) under the SVAMITVA scheme. He will lay the foundation stone of Tantya Mama Bhil University, which will serve the youth of the tribal-dominated areas of the state.

The university, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 170 crore, will provide world-class infrastructure for the all-round development of students, an official statement said.
