PM Modi targets Mahagathbandhan, calls 1990-2005 zero development era

Patna, Nov 6 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, while addressing a rally in Araria, launched a scathing attack on the Grand Alliance and released a ‘report card’, saying there was zero development in Bihar during 15 years of misgovernance from 1990 to 2005.

“In the name of governance, you were only looted. How many expressways were built in those 15 years? Zero. How many bridges on Kosi? Zero. How many tourist circuits? Zero. How many sports complexes? Zero. How many medical colleges? Zero,” PM Modi said.

Not a single IIT or IIM was established during that period, he alleged, spoiling the future of an entire generation.

Describing the 1990s as an era of guns, cruelty, bitterness, corruption and misgovernance, the Prime Minister said that the Grand Alliance has made it the identity of Bihar.

PM Modi also claimed that the internal discord between Congress and RJD has now come to the fore.

He said, “Congress has fielded its deputy chief ministerial candidate against RJD. He is saying that Dalits, Mahadalits and EBCs have suffered the most. This is just the beginning – after the results, Congress and RJD will tear each other apart.”

He also said that his accountability is towards the public. He said, “Those who ruled then called themselves well-wishers and emperors. But I am Modi – my well-wisher is you, the public. You are my master, you are my remote control.”

Continuing his attack on the Grand Alliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that under the NDA, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar worked hard to take Bihar out of the era of misgovernance.

He claimed that after the formation of the double engine government in 2014, development has gained momentum.

“After the formation of the double engine government, the pace of development in Bihar has accelerated. IIT Patna, IIM Bodhgaya, AIIMS Patna, the upcoming AIIMS in Darbhanga, a National Law University, a IIIT in Bhagalpur and four central universities – all these became a reality in Bihar,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also alleged that infiltrators are a big threat to the country.

“The NDA government is honestly identifying the infiltrators and driving them out. But RJD and Congress protect them. They spread lies, hold rallies and mislead people. They have no concern for the country’s security or faith,” he alleged.

PM Modi also claimed that a Congress leader insulted Chhath by calling it a “drama”.

He said, “This is an insult to Chhath Maiya. Our mothers and sisters observe this fast without drinking water. RJD remains silent when such things are said. I believe that the women of Bihar will never allow the return of Jungle Raj.”

Referring to the ongoing first phase of voting, the Prime Minister said the enthusiasm on the ground reflects support for the ruling coalition.

PM Modi said, “There is only one voice coming from the whole of Bihar – once again NDA. Behind this sentiment are the dreams of the youth and the determination of the mothers and sisters. Long queues are visible since the morning; women and youth are voting in large numbers. I congratulate all the voters.”
