Onboard INS Vikrant in Goa, Oct 20 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the important role of indigenous missile systems including BrahMos and Akash during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and said their performance has left many people worried.
Addressing naval personnel on board INS Vikrant on the occasion of Diwali, he said, “Our missiles like BrahMos and Akash have proved their capability even in ‘Operation Sindoor’. The name BrahMos itself is so famous that just hearing it makes many people worried whether BrahMos is coming.”
The Prime Minister said that many countries are now interested in purchasing these missiles.
“Whenever I meet experts, they all express the same wish that they also want access to them,” he said.
Emphasizing on the country’s growing defense capabilities, he said, “India is building the capacity to export equipment for all three services. We aspire to be the top defense exporter in the world, growing 30 times in the last 11 years.”
PM Modi also said that now on an average, a new indigenous warship or submarine is being inducted into the Indian Navy every 40 days, which shows the country’s rapid progress in defense manufacturing.
In an emotional display of India’s growing maritime dominance, the Prime Minister lauded the courage of the Navy and the strategic strength of INS Vikrant.
“It is not just a warship; it is a testament to the ingenuity, determination and global influence of 21st century India,” he said.
Underlining the ship’s vital role in recent operations, he said, “INS Vikrant demonstrated the might of the Indian Armed Forces, forcing Pakistan to capitulate within a matter of days during Operation Sindoor.”
The Prime Minister celebrated Diwali with the brave personnel of the Indian Navy aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, deployed off the coast of Goa.
The visit, steeped in tradition as PM Modi continues to celebrate festivals with India’s armed forces, sends a powerful message to Pakistan amid rising regional tensions. The Prime Minister’s words resonated with the crew as he appreciated their indomitable spirit.
