PM Modi reached Namibia for the first time, to hold bilateral talks with President Nandi-Naditwa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Windhok, the capital of Namibia, on Wednesday morning (local time), marking his first visit in the country and the third Prime Minister of Namibia from India only.

PM Modi is in Namibia in Namibia, who is for a state visit to invite Namibia President Netumbo Nanditwah.

On his arrival, the Prime Minister was given a formal reception at Hasia Kutako International Airport.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) said, “In the last phase of his visit, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Namibia, he will be ready for a state trip to Namibia on 09 July 2025, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Naditwah, Prime Minister.

“During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with the President Nandi-Naditwah. The Prime Minister will also pay tribute to the founder father and the first President of Namibia, the late Dr. Sam Nojoma. He too is expected to give an address in the Namibia Parliament,” the MEA said.

He said, “The Prime Minister’s visit is a reunion of India’s multidimensional and deep -rooted historical relations,” he said.

PM Modi reached Namibia after concluding his two -day state visit to Brazil, where he attended the 17th BRICS summit at Rio de Janeiro and held bilateral talks with President Luiz Insio Lula Da Silva in Bascilia.

PM Modi was on a state visit to Brazil on the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Eneasio Lula Da Silva.

During his visit to Brazil, PM Modi held a meeting with President Lula and attended the BRICS summit at Rio de Janeiro, where he also held bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the banks of the summit.

PM Modi thanked President Lula and the people of Brazil for their mercy for the entire visit. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I thank my good friends, President Lula, Sarkar and Brazilian wonderful people for my mercy through this journey. In the last few days, I have attended the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro and have bilateral conversations with President Lula in Bascillia.”

PM Modi was also awarded Brazil’s highest civilian honor by President Lula, ‘The National Order of the National Order of the Southern Cross’.

Namibia is the last stop in the Prime Minister’s five-country visit, including visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina and Brazil. (AI)
