PM Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary

New Delhi, October 2 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Thursday, who was distinguished as the ‘father of the nation’, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, stating that India will continue to follow his footsteps, make the sight of a ‘Aminerbar’ and ‘Weekly Bhat’.

He also arrived at Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhi Jayanti remembers Gandhi’s life commitment for truth, non -violence and social justice. It not only respects their philosophy of peace and moral life, but also acts as an International Day of Non-violence, celebrated to spread its message around the world.

Sharing his tribute to X, PM Modi wrote, “Gandhi Jayati is about paying tribute to the extraordinary life of beloved Bapu, whose ideals changed the curriculum of human history. He showed how courage and simplicity could become a equipment of great change. He believed in the power of service and the power of Karasa.”

The Prime Minister said, “We will continue to follow their way in our search to create a Vikasit India.”

Recalling Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, PM Modi described him as a “extraordinary politician”.

Born on 2 October 1904, Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964.

He is immortal for his historical slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’, which is a tribute to the contribution of soldiers and farmers that inspire generations.

Known for its humility, honesty and deep bonding with ordinary citizens, Shastri’s leadership left a permanent impact on India’s political and social fabric.

Paying his honor on X, PM Modi wrote, “Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri was an extraordinary politician, whose integrity, humility and determination strengthened India, which included during challenging times. He expressed exemplary leadership, power and decisive action.”

He said, “His clear call of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ ignited the spirit of patriotism among our people. He continues to inspire us in an attempt to build a strong and self -sufficient India,” he said.
